About the Show
Social Studies is a podcast that explores the relationship between advertising and activism. Hosted by photographer and director Stan Evans, this series of interviews digs into how these two methods of influence impact elements of culture, mindfulness, communities, and the profitability of companies.
"I‘m curious about other perspectives I’m not trying to judge. I‘m trying to listen. I don’t have the answers to all the questions, but I want to ask great questions, push existing conversations forward, and start an entirely new one about how business and activism intersect.
“My goal is to get business leaders to think deeply about the nature of inclusion in their business’ public identity and to get consumers to consider activism beyond what can be accomplished on social media; to get people to think about how to live the change within their communities and in their own lives."

About the Creator
Stan Evans grew up as an Army brat in Alaska and now lives in Los Angeles and works as a freelance photographer and videographer. Working amongst a creative community constantly on tap from some of the largest consumer brands in the world, he noticed that the approach these brands took towards storytelling and inclusion often missed the mark in both execution and strategy. Instances of misaligned activism drew inconsistent results at best and PR disasters at worst - yet instead of jumping on the criticism bandwagon as is so common in today’s media he was inspired by Brian Glazier’s Curiosity Conversations, and set out to start a dialogue with advertising leaders and community advocates to bring about positive change.
